Vision for the Coast
The Board acts to achieve the Vision expressed in the Victorian Coastal Strategy 2014:
A biologically and culturally rich, diverse coastal, estuarine and marine environment that is managed for its protection, sustainable use and enjoyment today and for future generations.

Members of the Board
The Western Coastal Board consists of up to 8 members appointed by the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change for a three-year term under the Coastal Management Act, 1995.

The Board is supported by a small Secretariat.
The Board reports annually to the Victorian Coastal Council as required under the Coastal Management Act 1995.
